Scenes will have a public performance after the end of the semester. The teacher will critique your work by offering helpful suggestions of ways to find freedom and ease in your expression as an actor. Classes will begin with an exercise designed to help students connect with the character they are working on, followed by a rehearsal of your scene in front of the class. Weeks 5-8: Scenes will be chosen by the students from any play written by one of the 4 playwrights studied in class. The playwright, the play and the period it was written for will be discussed. Students will read a scene or monologue from the play. Each week a play will be selected in advance, for example Week 1: Hedda Gabler by Henrik Ibsen.
